How is long-term care paid for in California?
Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program run by the Department of Health Care Services, funds long-term care for those who qualify. It offers home and community based options, including the Home and Community-Based Alternatives (HCBA) Waiver and the Assisted Living Waiver, which can pay for care outside a nursing home.
